I get so many compliments on my hair ππ½ππ½ but it wasn’t always like this. I started dying & bleaching my hair at a young age & it left it dry & damaged. It wouldn’t even grow properly. From 2008 to 2014 it was stuck at a certain length. My shoulders. It honestly was so bad that any heat on it made it frazzle & snap off. I wasn’t very into looking after my hair. The thought of buying something to look after it never even crossed my mind. So it was completely my fault.
In 2014 I decided to get permanent extensions. After searching about I decided to go with microloop extensions. I absolutely loved them. Kept them in for 2 years, to be honest I can’t actually remember why I took them out π
I had rapunzel hair super fast! But I knew this was just a quick fix, I didn’t really have lovely long hair.
So this is how I look after my hair now…
1. Washing
I personally wash my hair every other day. I wouldn’t wash it everyday if you don’t have to as it strips all the natural oils from your hair which will leave it looking dull & dry π so to start with I wash it with shampoo, rinse & then either use an elasticiser (I leave this on for 5/10 minutes) OR shampoo for the second time. If you do choose to shampoo twice always use a different brand shampoo. Follow this up with a nice conditioner to leave your hair soft & manageable. Little tip π« swap your shampoo/conditioner every few uses because if you use the same brand over & over it will just build up in your hair ππ½ my favourites are: tresemme, pantene, l’oreal, kΓ©rastase, Aussie.
2. Pre drying
Now this is the good part. Before you dry your hair or put any heat on it, always protect it first. I like to use a leave in conditioner or heat protection spray all over. A few spritz, 4/5 should do the trick ππΌ I then use an oil or elixir on the ends of my hair to leave them super silky. Do not put too much on if not you’ll end up with greasy hair as it won’t sink in. This was the part I never used to do & now I can see why you always should! So below are a few of my favourites ππ½ππ½ππ½ππ½ (Schwarzkopf is my ultimate favourite)
3. Heat heat heat
This means any heat; drying, straightening, curling. If you don’t use step 2, then please don’t do step 3. I try to let my hair dry naturally depending on when I have washed it, but I don’t like using too much heat. π₯ this may sound nuts to you but I like to straighten my hair before I go to bed. If I leave it or I sleep with it wet then I’ll wake up in the morning looking like a scarecrow, & nobody wants to see that π
If there are any days where you know you’re not going anywhere or doing anything then definitely don’t bother doing anything to your hair, leave it. It won’t matter! OR sit with a hair mask on that day ππ½ππΌ
I definitely LOVE my hair now. Any questions feel free to comment lovelies βΊοΈ
